Schools face severe damage as flooding disrupts education

During a recent government meeting, officials expressed gratitude for the dedication of school staff in the wake of significant damage caused by flooding in the east side of the district. Board members acknowledged the efforts of educators who prioritized community support, often at the expense of their own family time.

The meeting highlighted the impact of severe weather on local schools, particularly Pasco High School and Zephyrhills High School. Pasco High School sustained serious roof damage, particularly in Building 6 and the gymnasium. While a temporary roof can be installed on Building 6 to allow for continued use, the gym will require extensive repairs that cannot be addressed with temporary solutions.

Zephyrhills High School also faced challenges, with substantial water accumulation around the campus. Officials assured families that safety measures are being prioritized and that communication regarding the situation will continue to be shared.

The board emphasized its commitment to ensuring that students and staff can return to a safe learning environment as quickly as possible, while also recognizing the hard work of those involved in the recovery efforts.
