Local program empowers small businesses with free grants

In a recent government meeting, a representative from Local Price Arizona presented an overview of their initiatives aimed at supporting locally owned businesses in the community. Established 21 years ago, Local Price Arizona focuses on recirculating money within local economies to foster financial stability.

The organization operates a program called \"Local First,\" which promotes local businesses through mixers, educational seminars, and other outreach efforts. A significant aspect of their work is the \"Business Accelerated Program,\" launched 11 years ago, which is specifically designed for Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs. This program is entirely free and offers a comprehensive six-month curriculum covering 17 topics essential for business development.

Upon graduation, participants receive a $1,000 matching grant to invest in their businesses, provided they save $100 every two weeks during the program. The initiative has seen considerable success, with approximately 1,350 small businesses graduating from the program across various locations, including Phoenix, Cottonwood, Sedona, and Tucson.

The representative emphasized the importance of creating \"legacy businesses\"—enterprises that can thrive beyond their original owners. This approach aims to ensure long-term sustainability and community impact. The meeting concluded with an invitation for attendees to participate in upcoming graduation ceremonies, celebrating the achievements of local entrepreneurs.
