Community honors local heroes for impactful school support

During a recent meeting of the Community Consolidated School District 21, officials celebrated National Principals Month and recognized several local organizations for their contributions to the community. The meeting commenced with a warm welcome to attendees, including Pat Horker from the Village of Wheeling.

The highlight of the evening was a series of awards presented by Olivia Aguado, the public health liaison. Aguado expressed gratitude to Chicago Fade Lounge for their generous donation of haircuts during a back-to-school event, which significantly boosted students' confidence as they returned to school. The positive impact of this initiative was evident in the smiles of the students who participated.

Additionally, the Good Neighbors Network was honored for their contributions of backpacks, water bottles, and locker organizers, which have greatly supported students and families in the district. Aguado emphasized the importance of community support in fostering a nurturing environment for students.

Wheeling Helping Hands was also recognized for their longstanding commitment to the community, including donations of food baskets and gift cards to students. The organization’s president, Tony Stavros, and secretary, Chris Brady, were acknowledged for their efforts in enriching the lives of local students.

The meeting underscored the vital role of community partnerships in enhancing educational experiences and supporting student well-being within the district.
