Highlands launches groundbreaking fiber optic network

Highlands has officially completed its long-awaited Smart Cities Fiber Optic System, a project that has taken seven years of dedicated effort from town staff, commissioners, and legal experts. The network, developed in partnership with Hotwire Communications, is set to transform the community by enhancing connectivity for businesses, homes, and essential services such as education and healthcare.

During a recent government meeting, officials expressed gratitude for the hard work that went into the project, highlighting the contributions of key personnel, including Town Manager Josh Ward and IT Director Matt Schuler. The town will withhold liquidated damages from the final payment to the contractor, V1 Fiber, as part of the closure process.
