Community rallies for Measure S to protect public safety

During a recent city council meeting, local resident Alex Walker urged fellow citizens to support Measure S, emphasizing its critical role in maintaining public safety and community services. Walker, who has lived in the area for nearly two decades, expressed concern over potential cuts to the police department and the implications of outsourcing services, which he argued could lead to higher costs.

The meeting also featured a ceremonial presentation for Red Ribbon Week, where students from Jamison High School showcased their designs for this year's awareness shirts. Teacher Chris Colby highlighted the positive relationship between students and the police department, aiming to foster a better understanding of law enforcement among youth.

Additionally, Soledad Perez was recognized as the Employee of the Month for September 2024. Serving as a Community Service Officer for over two decades, Perez was commended for her dedication to code enforcement and community programs, having handled numerous incidents and actively participating in various local initiatives.

The council also opened the floor for public comments, adhering to guidelines that allow citizens to address issues not on the agenda. The meeting underscored the importance of community engagement and the ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and local initiatives.
