Spokane County launches aggressive plan to fight opioid crisis

Spokane County is taking significant steps to combat the opioid epidemic, which has affected many jurisdictions across the state. This year, the county began utilizing funds from the National Opioid Settlement, following the approval of a comprehensive treatment and prevention plan by the board of county commissioners in May.

The plan focuses on four priority areas aimed at addressing the severe impact of opioids, particularly Fentanyl, within the community. A key component of this initiative includes an annual allocation of $200,000 to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office, specifically designated to disrupt drug trafficking organizations. This funding is part of a broader strategy to make an immediate and meaningful impact in the fight against opioid misuse and its associated challenges.
