Mayor secures million-dollar boost for lead service replacement

The Department of Public Works presented an ordinance that authorizes Mayor Paterson to contract with Environetics Architects PC for condition assessments on municipal buildings. This move is expected to enhance the management and maintenance of city facilities, although specific details on the scope of the assessments were not disclosed.

Additionally, the Board of Water Supply discussed an ordinance to execute a first amended funding agreement with the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC). This amendment provides an additional $1 million for the city's lead service replacement line program, a critical initiative aimed at ensuring safe drinking water for residents. The funding agreement, originally executed on September 15, 2022, has now been extended through March 31, 2027, allowing for continued efforts in addressing lead service lines in Mount Vernon.
