Residents demand action against disruptive flight school operations

Residents voiced their frustrations at a recent government meeting regarding the operations of local flight schools and their impact on the community. Randy Hunsicker, a local resident, expressed his distress over what he described as \"terrorizing\" behavior from flight school pilots who frequently circle his property. Hunsicker claimed that despite his repeated complaints to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and local authorities, the situation has not improved over the past eight years. He accused the university's CEO, Barry Butler, of failing to address the issue, leading to an influx of pilots from various flight schools.

Another speaker, who identified herself as Jane, highlighted the need for the reestablishment of an airport advisory board that had been dismantled in the past. She advocated for the introduction of Fixed Base Operators (FBOs) instead of flight schools, arguing that FBOs would not disturb residential areas and would attract corporate clients without the noise associated with training flights.

Silvia Pugliese, a long-time resident, echoed these sentiments, suggesting a return to the airport's original purpose as an executive airport. She emphasized that the introduction of flight schools had transformed the airport's operations, leading to increased noise and disruption for local residents.
