Kearney High School Jazz Ensemble earns prestigious state invitation

During a recent government meeting, the spotlight was on the Kearney High School jazz ensemble, known as Frequency, which has received a prestigious invitation to perform at the 87th Annual Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA). This honor is considered the highest accolade for music ensembles in the state, highlighting the exceptional talent and dedication of the students involved.

Frequency, founded in 2016, is a select group featuring gifted singers and a dynamic rhythm section, with many members achieving all-district and all-state vocal music honors. The ensemble is not only committed to music but also participates in various extracurricular activities, including athletics, theater, and robotics.

The selection process for the MMEA is highly competitive, requiring ensembles to submit recordings of their performances, which are then evaluated by a panel of out-of-state judges. Frequency stands out as the only vocal jazz ensemble invited to this year's event, marking a significant achievement for the Kearney music program.
