Voter registration deadline approaches ahead of crucial election

In a recent government meeting, key discussions centered around the upcoming November 5th general election, emphasizing the importance of voter registration and advanced voting procedures. County Clerk Greg Barbour reminded attendees that the voter registration deadline is October 15th, urging new residents, college students, and high school seniors to register in Riley County to ensure their participation in the election.

Barbour highlighted that advanced voting will commence on October 16th, with locations at the courthouse and the student union. He noted that mail-in ballots must be requested by October 29th, and advanced voting hours will vary by location, starting at 10 AM at the student union. Voters were encouraged to visit the county's election website for detailed information on polling places and sample ballots.

Additionally, Public Works Director John announced the need to fill a position due to the retirement of a long-serving employee, who has dedicated nearly 48 years to the county. This transition was met with mixed emotions, reflecting the impact of her service on the community.
