District celebrates record graduation rates and student growth

In a recent government meeting, district officials celebrated significant achievements in student outcomes, highlighting an all-time high on-time graduation rate of nearly 94%, with 967 graduates. This milestone reflects the district's commitment to educational excellence.

The district also reported a passing rate of just under 70% on state assessments, marking the highest performance in North Carolina. In addition, nearly 74% of schools received letter grades of A or B, an improvement from the previous school year. Notably, 14 schools met or exceeded growth expectations during the 2023-2024 academic year.

A focus on equity was evident as officials noted a 3% increase in proficiency rates among Black students. Furthermore, students with disabilities and those facing economic disadvantages exceeded growth expectations at rates surpassing the state average. This data underscores the district's efforts to ensure that all students, regardless of background, experience accelerated learning.

Attendance has also been a priority, with the district reporting increases in satisfactory attendance rates. Elementary schools saw a 7% rise, while middle schools experienced a 3% increase in students attending 95% or more of the time.

These highlights reflect the district's ongoing commitment to improving educational outcomes and addressing challenges faced by diverse student populations.
