In a recent government meeting, several notable achievements and initiatives within the Rockland community were highlighted, showcasing the dedication of students and staff alike.
The Rockland High School varsity cheer team was celebrated for winning the South Shore League championship, with six members—Gracie Spadia, Maeve Daley, Ashley Moran, Brielle Adams, Lucy Burns, and Rachel Galem—recognized as All-Stars. Their success was acknowledged as a point of pride for the community.
Additionally, the high school drama department received commendations for their recent performance, which provided a much-needed lighthearted break for students and faculty alike. The efforts of Mr. Bergman and the drama cast were praised for their ability to engage a large number of students and bring joy during a challenging week.
The meeting also addressed the importance of safety training for faculty, specifically the ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) training conducted by Officer Schnabel and Ms. Paulding. This training is crucial for preparing staff to respond effectively in the event of a serious threat, such as an active shooter situation. The commitment of the faculty to participate in this training was recognized as a vital step in ensuring the safety of both students and staff.
Moreover, additional South Shore League All-Stars were announced for cross country and track and field, with Claire Carpini and Luca Benuk receiving accolades for their performances.
Lastly, students from Rogers Middle School and Rockland High School participated in a community service project at Bourne National Cemetery, where they placed flags on gravestones, demonstrating their respect and commitment to honoring veterans.
These discussions reflect a strong sense of community spirit and dedication to both academic and extracurricular excellence in Rockland.
