Community unites for festive tree decorating event

Art teachers from Topsail High School, Topsail Middle School, Surf City, and South Topsail Elementary are collaborating on a community holiday event that showcases student creativity through decorated trees. The initiative involves local businesses, with trees donated by Lowe's and other sponsors, allowing students to craft ornaments that adorn these trees.

This year, the Topsail High School baseball team has joined the effort, volunteering to create and decorate a tree, demonstrating a strong community spirit. The event is funded entirely through donations from board members, ensuring that no taxpayer money is utilized for the project.

Last year's event was well-received, with contributions from central office staff and community members enhancing the festive atmosphere. The board of education is encouraging community involvement, inviting residents to support the initiative and enjoy the artistic displays created by local students.
