Shelter dog needs urgent help after dislocated hip

During a recent city meeting, Linda Briones, a representative from a local animal shelter, presented a heartfelt appeal for assistance regarding a dog named Hawk. Hawk was among a group of ten dogs rescued from a shelter plagued by a bee infestation. Due to a lack of immediate placement options, Hawk has been in boarding, costing the shelter approximately $2,000 per month.

Briones revealed that Hawk is suffering from a dislocated hip, requiring an amputation that will incur an additional expense of $1,200. She urged city officials to consider providing financial support to help cover these medical costs, emphasizing that Hawk is one of the shelter's own dogs that has not yet found a permanent home due to his condition.

In addition to seeking help for Hawk, Briones announced an upcoming fall fundraiser aimed at supporting the shelter's efforts. Tickets for the event are priced at $10, with prizes including a guided fishing tour, a unique Jurassic experience valued at $450, and a dinner for four at a local restaurant. The fundraiser aims to raise funds to continue supporting animals in need, including those like Hawk who require special care.
