Community rallies for Thanksgiving dinners and school funding

During a recent government meeting, various fundraising initiatives aimed at supporting local families and school activities were discussed. The Esten and Phelps packs are spearheading a turkey feather fundraiser, selling feathers for 25 cents each to raise money for Thanksgiving dinners for families in need in Rockland.

Additionally, the Phelps pack is organizing a \"Ryan's Give Back Night,\" where families can dine and play games, with a portion of the proceeds directed towards covering field trip costs and enrichment activities. The middle school pack is also involved in fundraising efforts, including a \"Dining for a Cause\" event at Domino's, which will help offset costs for a trip to Philadelphia and other field trips.

In a creative fundraising effort, the middle school pack has initiated a campaign to name a stage, selling tickets to raise funds for this purpose, with proceeds going towards student trips and activities. The RMS pack is hosting the Shamrock Classic, a basketball game featuring teachers against eighth graders, to generate funds for school supplies and activities.

The Class of 2025 is set to host a powder puff game, pitting juniors against seniors, while the RHS community service group is organizing the third annual gingerbread building contest to benefit South Shore Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, the Classes of 2025 and 2026 will be selling cupcakes to raise funds for their respective classes.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous vote to approve these initiatives. Superintendent Dr. Khan also provided an update on recent interactions with the finance committee at town hall, expressing gratitude for their cooperation in transferring funds to the school ahead of an upcoming special town meeting.
