Residents raise alarm over church parking and traffic chaos

During a recent council meeting, concerns were raised regarding the parking situation surrounding a local church, particularly in light of a new ordinance that has seemingly exacerbated traffic issues in the area. A resident expressed apprehension about the potential for increased congestion on Chestnut Street, a narrow dead-end road, as the church congregation grows.

The resident highlighted that the church has access to ample overflow parking at nearby facilities, including the Carousel Learning Center and Bicor, as well as other industrial sites that are closed on Sundays. Despite this, the resident fears that the addition of 17 new parking spaces could lead to a significant influx of parishioners, potentially overwhelming the already limited street capacity.

Concerns were also raised about safety, with reports of excessive speeding and illegal parking in front of the resident's home. The resident noted that since the ordinance took effect, there have been multiple traffic violations, including illegal drop-offs and parking incidents, prompting them to contact local law enforcement for assistance.
