County Commission Secures Major Grants for Records and Victims

During a recent meeting, the Monongalia County Commission addressed two significant grant applications and a resignation.

Colleen Cooney, the Commission Office Manager, presented a request for $21,872.70 from the Records Management and Preservation Board grant. The Commission unanimously supported the application, emphasizing their commitment to efficient records management and preservation. The resolution included a commitment to comply with all reporting and budget requirements associated with the grant.

Additionally, the Commission approved a contract for a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant, which awarded $125,730. This resolution authorized Sean P. Sikora, the Commission President, to enter into a contractual agreement with the West Virginia Division of Administrative Services to manage the grant funds. The contract includes provisions for quarterly payments and compliance with federal regulations.

In other business, the Commission acknowledged the resignation of Frank Vitale from the Monongahela County Deputy Sheriff Civil Service Commission, expressing gratitude for his service. The resignation was accepted without objection, marking a transition in the Commission's personnel.
