Business owner pleads for parking exemption to save livelihood

During a recent government meeting, a local business owner, Mr. Boyd, passionately addressed the council regarding his need for a grandfather clause to park his dump truck at his property on Tate Terrace. Boyd, who has operated his business, Tidewater Estimation, for 20 years, expressed concerns about the safety of parking his vehicle elsewhere, citing potential vandalism from neighborhood children.

At 69 years old, Boyd emphasized the logistical challenges he faces when required to park his truck far from home, particularly noting the lengthy commute to Knox Island, which can take up to an hour. He argued that having the ability to park his truck on his property is essential for his livelihood and family support.

The council members listened attentively, with Mr. Boyd being advised to work with City Manager Pat Roberts to explore possible solutions. The discussion highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by local business owners in balancing operational needs with city regulations.
