Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations Ignite Community Spirit

During a recent Crowley Independent School District (ISD) board meeting, the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month was highlighted, showcasing the district's commitment to cultural recognition and education. The festivities, which ran from September 15 to October 15, were themed \"Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together.\"

Dr. McFarland introduced the agenda item, expressing enthusiasm for the events that included curriculum connections in classrooms, art projects, and various celebrations across campuses. Students engaged with historical figures and participated in activities that spanned subjects such as math, science, literature, sports, and fine arts.

Notably, Tarleton State University collaborated with Crowley ISD, displaying student artwork as part of the celebration. The district also announced that students from kindergarten through 12th grade would have the opportunity to participate in eight categories of entries, which will be showcased and voted on during an event at North Crowley High School on October 26.

Additionally, the meeting mentioned a door decorating contest that schools have been invited to participate in, further encouraging community involvement and creativity among students. The board's recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month reflects an ongoing effort to celebrate diversity and foster an inclusive educational environment.
