Victoria ISD achieves perfect financial integrity rating

During a recent board meeting, the Victoria Independent School District (VISD) presented its financial integrity rating for the 2022-2023 school year, achieving a perfect score of 100 out of 100 points. This rating, part of the Texas Education Agency's Financial Accountability Rating System, evaluates the financial management performance and future solvency of school districts.

Missus Yates, addressing the board, emphasized the importance of the financial accountability system, which is mandated by Texas Education Code to ensure transparency in public education finances. The system includes critical indicators that determine whether a district passes or fails, alongside solvency and compliance indicators that assess financial health.

The district successfully met all four critical indicators, which include timely submission of financial reports and compliance with debt agreements. Yates highlighted that the district's total net position showed more assets than liabilities, indicating a strong financial standing.

The report also noted improvements in the administrative cost ratio, where the district regained points lost in the previous year, reflecting effective management of resources. Additionally, the board discussed the importance of accurate enrollment projections to avoid financial discrepancies with state funding.
