County launches ambitious affordable housing initiative

In a recent government meeting, officials discussed significant advancements in affordable housing initiatives, highlighting the approval of several projects aimed at addressing the county's critical housing crisis. The Board approved four deals in July, each featuring a 99-year affordability period, underscoring the commitment to long-term solutions for housing accessibility.

The county received three competitive proposals from leading affordable housing developers, with Related ranked first for its plan to construct over 430 units, catering to a range of income levels from extremely low to market rate. The county will retain ownership of the land, receiving a $5 million payment as part of the deal, which will contribute to future housing initiatives.
