Council approves controversial liquor license near church

In a recent government meeting, the council unanimously passed Ordinance Number 24-20, with a vote of 8-0, following a motion by Councilman Korn and a second from Councilman Hildebrand. The ordinance, which was amended prior to the vote, reflects the council's ongoing legislative efforts.

The meeting also addressed a proposal for a new restaurant, The Saucer LLC, seeking a beer and wine license for on-premises consumption. Located at 1400 West Second Suite O in Roswell, the establishment is situated within 300 feet of a church, necessitating a waiver for the license. Councilman Hildebrand moved to hold a public hearing on the matter, which was seconded by Councilman Korn.

During the discussion, it was clarified that the restaurant is actually 312 feet from the nearest church, which allows for the waiver request under current regulations. Isaac Caboz, representing the business owner Anelica Wood, confirmed that all necessary regulations had been met and expressed confidence in the proposal's compliance with local laws.
