City approves controversial dock extension amid environmental concerns

In a recent planning board meeting, a proposal for a dock extension at 8002 Flagler Court received unanimous approval. The applicant, represented by Docks and More Construction Company, sought to extend the existing dock from 67 feet to a total of 117 feet, which includes a 50-foot addition and a boat lift at the end. This extension aims to provide safe water depths for mooring and to accommodate the applicant's 45-foot boat.

The proposal was supported by diagrams illustrating the current and proposed dock configurations, highlighting that other nearby docks exceed the 100-foot limit currently enforced by the city. Alexa Anglier, a city planner, confirmed that the application complied with all relevant standards and regulations, noting that both the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Army Corps of Engineers had approved the dock extension.
