Emergency funding deadline looms for community projects

In a recent government meeting, officials addressed the urgent need to allocate over $284,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds by the end of the year. The funds must be awarded and under contract before the deadline, prompting the declaration of an emergency to expedite the process. The lowest bidder for the project has been selected, and a roll call confirmed unanimous support for the emergency measure from all present members.

The meeting also included updates from various departments. Keith Wright, a member of the council, welcomed back Patrick, who had been absent, and noted that he had no significant reports to share. Patty from the service department reminded attendees that only two meetings remain for the year, urging departments to submit any outstanding bills.

Additionally, Josh Pratt from Strategic Services announced plans to travel to Washington, D.C., on December 4th and 5th to advocate for $3.5 million in community project funding through Representative David Joyce's office. Discussions will focus on securing continued legislative support, although it was noted that definitive answers regarding funding may not be available until March, following the expiration of the current continuing resolution on December 20th.
