Pioneer Park Faces Major Repairs After Storm Damage

In a recent government meeting, officials discussed critical infrastructure issues affecting local parks and community facilities. Additionally, the meeting addressed damage to a ball field caused by a recent storm, which resulted in mud and debris flowing from the horse arena into the park. The repairs are projected to cost around $80,000, but due to the park's location in a flood plain, insurance coverage will only apply after a $100,000 deductible. City officials are currently evaluating the situation and considering future discussions on whether to restore the field or repurpose the area for parking.

Lastly, the meeting highlighted the upcoming Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), which are aimed at supporting lower-income communities. However, local officials noted that there are limited qualifying areas, with the trailer court behind Walmart being a potential candidate for funding.
