Community celebrates Halloween and gears up for winter wonderland

During a recent government meeting, local scouts were honored for their participation in the citizenship in the community badge program, leading attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting also featured an administrative report highlighting community events and infrastructure updates.

Miss Powers reported a successful turnout for the annual Halloween Safe Night held on October 28 at Papillion Landing, thanking all involved for their contributions. Looking ahead, she announced the upcoming Winter Wonderland event scheduled for November 30, from 4 to 8 PM, noting that fire pits will be available this year due to improved weather conditions.

In infrastructure news, Powers provided an update on the sewer project, indicating that Phase 1A is nearing completion, with the first flows expected in January from the Springfield community. The engineering and planning departments are collaborating with the sewer agency to update the master plan map, which will enhance infrastructure capacity and provide clearer definitions for development standards. This updated plan is set for consideration at the agency board meeting on November 20.

Additionally, Powers reminded attendees of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday on November 11, during which city offices will be closed. A ceremony is scheduled for 11 AM at American Legion Post 32, encouraging community members to attend and honor those who have served in the military.
