New appointee set to reshape local planning board

Additionally, the board discussed a rezoning application submitted by Tamara Jackson, which was unanimously approved by the planning commission. Jackson sought to rezone a 5-acre property located off Southeast 29th Street from its original designation to Commercial General (CG). The surrounding area has seen a shift towards commercial zoning over the past five years, with adjacent properties already zoned for industrial use. Jackson's plans for the site include developing a typical strip center, aligning with the ongoing commercial development in the region. The board expressed support for the rezoning, indicating it fits well within the area's evolving landscape.
