Residents demand action against escalating noise from modified vehicles

Residents are increasingly voicing concerns over the disruptive noise generated by modified mufflers on cars, motorcycles, and trucks in their neighborhoods. During a recent government meeting, one resident highlighted the issue, noting that the noise is particularly intrusive in apartments located on the northwest and north sides of local buildings.

The resident described how the entrance ramp has become a hotspot for vehicle enthusiasts, who often rev their engines and engage in speed contests, creating a safety hazard for those entering the highway. The situation has been exacerbated by the Caffeine and Octane car show at Town Center Mall, which began in August 2022 and occurs on the first Sunday of each month. While the event attracts thousands of car enthusiasts, it also draws individuals who organize their own unofficial car shows, contributing to the noise problem.

Despite the presence of two off-duty police officers assigned to monitor the area during the car show, residents report that the noise levels have only worsened. The disturbances reportedly start as early as 6 AM and can last until 11 PM or later, significantly impacting the quality of life for those living nearby.

The resident expressed frustration over previous communications with local officials, including a 2021 email to Commissioner Cupid regarding the noise issue, which has yet to yield effective solutions. The meeting concluded with an invitation for residents to discuss their concerns further with staff members present.
