Fuel Supply Crisis Sparks Urgent Pricing Negotiations

In a recent government meeting, officials discussed the ongoing efforts to secure fuel supplies for the airport amid recent changes in fuel providers. The airport's fuel farm, which was recently updated, has seen a transition in suppliers, notably with Epic Fuels being acquired by World Fuel Services effective October 1.

The airport management is actively negotiating pricing with multiple fuel companies, including AEG Fuels and Titan Fuels, to ensure a steady supply of Jet A fuel. Currently, the airport's fuel reserves are critically low, with less than 1,000 gallons remaining, prompting urgent action to secure additional supplies.

Officials highlighted the importance of obtaining competitive pricing, noting that even a small difference of 8 cents per gallon can lead to significant savings when ordering large quantities, such as 8,000 gallons. They anticipate receiving pricing information from various suppliers by Tuesday, which will inform their next order of Jet A fuel. The discussions underscored the necessity of diversifying fuel sources to mitigate risks associated with supply shortages and fluctuating prices.
