Tabitha's Way expands food assistance amid rising community need

During a recent government meeting, representatives from Tabitha's Way, a local organization dedicated to combating food insecurity, provided an update on their impactful work in the community. Established in 2010 by Wendy Osborne, inspired by a biblical passage, Tabitha's Way began with a small pantry in Spanish Fork and has since expanded to serve multiple locations, including Pleasant Grove and Saratoga Springs.

The organization reported a significant increase in demand for their services, with the Spanish Fork pantry alone assisting 5,726 individuals per month in 2024, marking a 24% rise from the previous year. Notably, the number of seniors receiving assistance has also surged by 33%, highlighting the growing need for food support in the area.

Tabitha's Way focuses on three core missions: providing temporary food assistance, recommending resources for self-reliance, and fostering community support. They host several annual events, including a backpack giveaway for school supplies and holiday food kits for Thanksgiving and Christmas, which require extensive volunteer participation.

The organization is actively seeking community involvement for their upcoming Christmas food package distribution, inviting residents to join in the effort to support local families during the holiday season. This call to action underscores the importance of community engagement in addressing food insecurity and helping neighbors in need.
