Cornhole Project Brings Community Together in New Park

During a recent government meeting, Jason General presented his Eagle Scout project, which involved the installation of cornhole boards at G Park. The project, which took six months to complete, was inspired by family bonding over the game during quarantine. General expressed gratitude for the community's support, highlighting that over 200 volunteer hours contributed to the project.

The cornhole boards were designed to be durable, with waterproof features and a professional finish, ensuring they will last for several years. Despite facing a delay due to heavy rainfall, the installation was completed successfully, and General reported that families were already enjoying the new addition shortly after its unveiling.

In addition to the cornhole project, the meeting addressed a proposal regarding the revenue sharing from ice cream sales during the Fourth of July festivities. The Exchange Club, which has historically sold refreshments at the event, faced challenges in previous years due to logistical issues. A motion was passed to allocate the profits from the 2024 sales entirely to the Exchange Club, with future profits to be split 50/50 between the club and the town's direct department.

The meeting concluded with a positive note on the collaboration between the town and the Exchange Club, emphasizing the importance of community partnerships in enhancing local events.
