Lifeguard legend honored for decades of service and impact

During a recent government meeting, Gene Hasson was honored for his remarkable 48 years of service to the City of Long Branch and its beach community. The recognition highlighted his dedication and leadership, particularly in his role with the Monmouth County chapter of the United States Lifesaving Association and as the founder of the Long Branch Ocean Rescue Lifeguard Academy, which has trained over 250 lifeguards since its inception in 2011.
