Community honors Carolyn Haynes with prestigious volunteer award

During a recent government meeting, the 2023 Bill Thomas Park Volunteer Award was presented to Carolyn Haynes, recognizing her extensive contributions to Arlington's parks and natural resources. The award, given annually by the Park and Recreation Commission, honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional volunteerism and dedication to public open spaces.

Susan Cunningham, a member of the commission, highlighted Haynes' decades of service, including her role as the founding president of the Arlington Regional Master Naturalists, an organization that has mobilized hundreds of volunteers for educational and service efforts in local parks.
