City Council Faces Controversy Over Environmental Commission Appointments

During a recent city council meeting, discussions centered around the reappointment of members to the Tiesville Environmental Commission (TEC), highlighting both the qualifications of the candidates and the timing of the decision-making process.

Tom Perez, a dedicated environmental advocate with prior experience on the Planning and Zoning Commission, was among those recommended for reappointment. Supporters emphasized his preparedness and commitment to environmental issues, urging the council to finalize the reappointments of Perez, Laura Lee, Beth Ann, and Yvette Fliss during the meeting.

However, the proposal faced scrutiny from resident Stewart Buchanan, who raised concerns about the council's ability to make such significant decisions so early in their tenure.
