Horseback riders embark on healing journey of reconciliation

A significant initiative aimed at healing and reconciliation is set to take place in December, commemorating the largest mass hanging in U.S. history, which involved 38 Dakota warriors in Mankato. This event, rooted in a vision shared by a Dakota elder in 2005, seeks to foster community engagement and remembrance of the past.

The horseback riders will traverse the area, with plans to stay at local venues, including the Balcony Bridal. Various local organizations are expected to assist in the event, which aims to reconnect younger generations with this important historical narrative. The initiative, which had been paused for 17 years due to the aging of its original organizers, is now being revitalized by the youth, reflecting a renewed commitment to reconciliation.
