Solar array relocation sparks planning approval debate

During a recent government meeting, officials discussed a proposal for minor site plan approval concerning the installation of a ground-mounted solar array at 799 US Route 206, also identified as Block 201 Lot 11 on local tax maps. The proposal includes not only the solar array but also landscaping, sign relocation, and the installation of fencing and buffering around the existing building.

The applicant clarified that the project involves relocating an existing solar array currently situated on the roof of the building to a ground-mounted setup. Initially, the application indicated a need for a variance due to the proposed installation of a six-foot high security fence, which exceeds the five-foot maximum height permitted for fences in the area.

The meeting highlighted the ongoing efforts to enhance renewable energy infrastructure while navigating local zoning regulations. Further discussions are expected as the proposal moves forward in the approval process.
