Women leaders unite to empower diversity in CSAC

During a recent government meeting, significant discussions emerged surrounding leadership initiatives aimed at enhancing representation and support for women and people of color within the California State Association of Counties (CSAC). Supervisor Hanneken, alongside newly elected suburban co-chair of the Women’s Leadership Forum, highlighted the success of the 130th annual CSAC conference held in Pasadena, where Hanneken received multiple awards for her contributions.

The newly elected co-chair expressed excitement about the recognition of Hanneken's instrumental role in establishing the Women’s Leadership Forum, emphasizing the importance of creating spaces for women in leadership within CSAC. This initiative aims to empower women and ensure their voices are heard in county governance.

Additionally, the meeting introduced a new advisory committee called BSESAC, focused on supporting Black elected county supervisors. This committee will convene bi-monthly to foster collaboration and encourage leadership among people of color in the county system. The establishment of BSESAC reflects a commitment to increasing diversity and representation in leadership roles, providing a platform for underrepresented voices within CSAC.

These initiatives underscore a growing recognition of the need for inclusive leadership structures within local government, aiming to create a more equitable environment for all county supervisors.
