Tunbridge Selectboard members voted unanimously to adopt the town's updated local hazard-mitigation and emergency-management plan after a brief presentation and discussion.
Presenter S4 explained the plan's purpose and the state review timeline; S9 noted the adoption is “required” to preserve eligibility for certain FEMA funds. S5 moved to adopt the plan, S10 seconded, and the board signaled unanimous support. The board agreed a designated selectboard member would sign the document and that the plan will go to Vermont Emergency Management for its 45-day review.
The adoption is procedural but consequential: S9 said the plan "plays a role in the the amount of money we get from FEMA. It's a required component." Board members discussed modest follow-up steps described by S4, including filing the adoption paperwork and sharing the finalized plan with emergency-management partners. The board recorded no dissent and did not amend the plan at the meeting.
The town will transmit the signed document to Vermont Emergency Management and monitor the agency's comments during the 45-day review window; S12 agreed to take custody of the finalized plan once edits are complete.
