The Portsmouth Economic Development Commission voted Oct. 2 to appoint an EDC representative to the newly formed shuttle-loop and public‑transit working group after the City Council approved the group's creation on Sept. 14.
Chair opened the discussion by summarizing the group's charge: "Their mission is to consolidate existing studies, plans, and data on expanding public transit and Portsmouth report back to city council on January, 29th." Commissioners discussed whether the EDC should send one or two representatives and whether seats should be held by an EDC commissioner or a citizen representative. A recommendation from Sarah to nominate Anne was moved and seconded and carried on a voice vote.
The working group is time‑bound: its first meeting is scheduled for Oct. 19 at 3:30 p.m. at City Hall and it will meet roughly every two weeks until the Jan. 29, 2027 report-back to council. Staff told commissioners the group will produce a recommended pilot scope or consultant-ready scope at the end of the process. The EDC will monitor participation and return to the commission for any formal recommendations to council.
