A representative of Southern County Security Services told the Prairie View council the most successful events are those close to campus with a controlled pedestrian lane, lighting and tightly staffed patrols. "In the past, the events that was closer to campus were more successful because we would create a lane for the students to walk across the street, come to the event, and go back to where they stayed at," the contractor said while urging the city to require similar controls in permits.
The contractor recommended booking security and off‑duty officers earlier—sometimes one to two hours before an event—to allow time to set barricades, lighting and parking logistics. He also proposed stationing personnel at nearby commercial nodes such as FuelMax and Shell so students who leave an event do not congregate unsupervised across the city. The representative said his company can provide patrol vehicles and canine units and is willing to coordinate placements that do not conflict with city police responsibilities.
