Mayor Dan Dixon used his final comments at the Oct. 2 work session to update the commission on a large transportation and redevelopment funding package. He said Millville was awarded a $7.2 million DOT INFRA (NAB Avenue) grant and combined with other local contributions and potential county CMAQ funds could bring the project total closer to $12.1 million for the near-term scope.
"We just got awarded the grant for 7,200,000," the mayor said, noting the city already had $1,000,000 in SJTPO funds and $400,000 in a redevelopment grant, and that the county is applying for roughly $3.5 million in CMAQ for a roundabout portion of the work. Dixon described the NAB Avenue project as a linchpin for CRP redevelopment phases, telling commissioners those phases could bring approximately $200,000,000 in revenue over 30 years if fully realized. He called the award the result of coordinated outreach and expressed optimism that needed approvals and matching funds would fall into place.
Commissioners praised staff work and the mayor’s outreach to state and federal partners. The update reflected planning- and grant-stage progress; formal project agreements and design/permitting steps remain pending.
