City staff told the commission that field and facility bookings were substantially used during summer 2026. Presenters reported about 2,500 bookings and roughly 7,946 rental hours across parks and fields, including 145 picnic rentals and 55 special event permits; staff said bookings increased about 20% from 2025.
Staff highlighted that several turf fields were near full utilization: "Our most used field was ICP North reaching at 94% capacity during evening hours," presenters said. Staff also described operational strategies used to increase availability (back‑to‑back rentals, longer lighted hours) and credited recent online‑booking improvements with making it easier for residents and outside groups to secure time.
Ryan Daley and staff noted the city accepts online bookings quickly (within hours), which they said helped increase resident access and overall utilization. Staff said they will continue monitoring demand as part of longer‑term PROS planning and consider options for expanding turfed fields or improving scheduling for non‑athletic park uses.
