The village announced plans to drill a new municipal well at the site of 502 Bayberry, a project officials said will take about two years to complete. Village administrator said the Army Corps awarded the contract to Leducer Associates and crews will mobilize in the coming weeks, with seasonal demobilization and restart expected before a projected spring 2028 completion.
"Work is gonna be starting within the next few weeks. This is gonna be a 2 year project," the village administrator said, adding that equipment will be barged in and staged behind the community house. He said the first phase will include mobilization, decommissioning an existing test well, clearing decking at nearby houses and clearing the site for drilling; he characterized the drill as a major effort, describing the well as hundreds of feet deep.
Residents asked about temporary use of the wagon park and whether tennis courts might be used for staging; the administrator said the contractor was considering staging options and that the village would post a wagon‑park cleanout date before work begins. The board did not take a new vote on the well at the meeting; the item was presented as an update and timeline for mobilization.
