The board moved to ratify personnel action appointing Cedric LeGrand as the village building inspector and approved the motion unanimously. Board members welcomed Cedric and noted the village will outsource any code conflicts to H2M to avoid conflicts of interest with his private business.
"Welcome aboard, Cedric," the mayor said when the appointment was introduced. Village administrator also congratulated Cedric on his new role and trustees discussed using savings from inspector fees to fund a code enforcement officer and to cover budget modifications.
Trustees said the fire marshal functions will continue to be handled by the town of Islip as needed and that the code enforcement position remains open; any budget modification would be discussed with the treasurer and potentially in executive session at a future meeting.
