The Wellfleet Select Board voted to amend the special‑event liquor license for Oysterfest to include a non‑beer, non‑wine beverage marketed as “Sun Cruisers.” Carly Bertrand, executive director of the Wellfleet Oyster Alliance, told the board the change reflects the festival's existing layout and the alliance’s practice of offering that beverage at past events.
“This is just a much more realistic scope of the actual town use…we actually traditionally start with putting tents up in town on Wednesday,” Bertrand said, explaining the licensing amendment and why the product was not included in the original application. The board moved the amendment and approved it in a roll‑call vote in which Ryan, Ron and Barbara voted in favor.
The change is limited to the product category described in the application; Bertrand said there were no planned changes to hours or the site map tied to the alcohol amendment. The Select Board indicated staff and department heads had already reviewed logistics, and no members of the public spoke in opposition during the hearing. The board closed the hearing and proceeded to related Oysterfest items on the agenda.
