Palm Beach County Commissioner Maria Sachs opened a packed meeting on the future of the Ag Reserve and told attendees she wants elected commissioners to review projects that currently can be approved administratively. "My name is Maria Sachs. I'm your county commissioner," Sachs said as she outlined the agenda and introduced county engineering and zoning staff.
Sachs described the Ag Reserve as "22,000 acres of land that is unique in all of the Southeastern United States" and said the meeting would center on traffic, infrastructure and the DRO process that allows certain government and religious uses to bypass the Board of County Commissioners. She told the audience she will propose an ordinance change at a future meeting so that those applications come before the board, and urged residents to contact all seven commissioners if they want the rule changed.
