Several attendees raised concerns about a proposed Islamic Center and an associated school on 152nd, asking who controls the organization, where funding comes from and what security reviews were completed. "If credible documented evidence exists connecting specific individuals or organizations associated with this project to extremist organizations, residents deserve to know what authorities have investigated and determined," said Matthew Wallach in a line of questioning about ownership and financing.
Other commenters asked for environmental reviews of sewage, water and infrastructure impacts. At least one attendee asked whether federal‑level vetting (for example, FBI involvement) should occur; another said concerns about the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) and ties to the Muslim Brotherhood should be examined. Commissioner Sachs responded that staff had vetted the applicant and noted a county ordinance banning minarets and public calls to prayer: "There is an ordinance in this... In the county that there are no minarets and no calls to prayer in the entire county," she said, and pointed attendees to public records and the applicant's local attorney who was present.
