At the Oct. 1 meeting the City Council recognized Digital Connect and community partners for efforts to expand internet access in underserved San Antonio neighborhoods. Presenters and councilmembers credited collaborative work among philanthropic, corporate and government partners that distributed devices, built local connectivity and supported training and outreach.
Speakers said the initiative reached approximately 5,000 homes through coordinated distributions and programs and described the work as an ongoing effort. One presenter asked the council to sustain coordination across agencies, nonprofits and funders as the initiative moves to the next chapter — including conversations about artificial intelligence, device training and broader digital-inclusion strategies. Councilmembers thanked partners including Toyota, Frost Bank and university groups for their roles in building local capacity.
