The zoning session paused on Oct. 1, 2026, when council members voted to postpone agenda items 13 and 14 after a public commenter raised environmental and neighborhood‑character concerns.
Jack M. Finger, a registered commenter, told the council the proposals (described in the meeting as a painting and hojalatería) lacked adequate buffering from adjacent residences and would produce “emisiones peligrosas” that neighbors would inhale. “No continúe… simplemente decida y diga no a todo esto en este momento,” he said, urging Councilmember Spears to oppose the items. The clerk recorded a voice vote; Councilmembers Cor, Mique Rodríguez, Viagrán, Munguía, Castillo, Galván, Alderete Gabito, White and the mayor voted in favor, while Meza González and Spears were noted absent. The motion carried.
The postponement came alongside a separate procedural motion to continue agenda item 7 to Nov. 5, 2026; movers and seconders were not named on the record. No additional public testimony on the postponed items was taken at the Oct. 1 session.
