Don, a highway department staff member, described ongoing street and park maintenance work and said crews are responding to a rise in tree complaints as residents prepare for fall. "Highway Cruiser working on tree complaints," he reported, and said crews finished packing and patching parking lots and new roads near the recreation center.
Don said crews are now addressing drainage basins on Ruffin Road that were inaccessible during summer rains and that a low entrance was raised to prevent water intrusion. He listed three roads scheduled for a third round of paving in early October — Ferris, Nottingham Mall and Bedford Way — and noted paving will proceed when rain stops. The committee also discussed the town's fall loose-brush and leaf-pickup schedule, and Don said the schedule and flyer were distributed in local papers.
